About
ActionAid Zimbabwe has vacancies that have arisen under its Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF). The overall objective of the ZRBF is to contribute to increased capacities of communities to protect development gains and achieve improved well-being outcomes in the face of shocks and stresses enabling them to contribute to the economic growth of Zimbabwe. Under ZRBF the Zambezi Valley Alliance consortium seeks to build resilience of communities in 3 districts (Kariba, Mbire and Binga) along Zambezi Valley through enhancing their capacities, access to assets, resources and opportunities to improve their wellbeing.
Position Summary
The Agronomy Officer will encourage farmers to adopt improved methods of farming using a variety of methods to reach farmers, guide the technical direction and strategy of drought tolerant nutrition sensitive food and feed crop production, pre and post-harvest techniques, savings and internal landing community activities. The Officer will collaborate with other thematic area officers (Livestock, DRM and financial inclusion and gender officer) and various stakeholders that include the relevant government ministries and private sector agribusinesses. S/he will work with implementing partner staff and communities to monitor achievement and impact.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science or a related field from a recognized university; Post graduate qualification in related field will be an added advantage; At least three years practical experience in the implementation of agriculture projects for small holder farmers; Experience in agricultural extension services, agriculture programming, farmer training and community mobilization and project planning; Ability and experience in riding a motorbike; Ability and experience in riding a motorbike is a must.
