Skeem Saam To Take A Break As Cancellation Rumors Loom?
SABC1’s hit soapie Skeem Saam, is reportedly going on a production hiatus in March.
This follows amid rumors that the show might be cancelled, after its viewership stats took a nosedive.
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela shared the news saying

Sources are telling me that the popular SABC1 soapie will be going on a production break from March 1st
SABC tells me the broadcaster has have met its obligations to the show & the production has delivered all contracted episodes

There are rumours that the show may be cancelled.At this stage, per my discussion with SABC, there are no plans to cancel.
However, as stated above, all episodes required by SABC have been delivered, and the broadcaster has not optioned more, yet.
Only time will tell!
I can confirm, based on my sources, that the production will not be paying actors for the time they will be on break from March 1st
I asked channel about this and SABC tells me they paid the production for episodes delivered and the broadcaster does not deal with talent payment.
Will the break affect the airing of the show?
SABC tells me that the show will be aired as usual, stating “ there is no disruption in transmission
So fans, don’t freak out yet.
Let’s hope new season negotiations go well and the show does not get canned.

SABC responded by saying they have no intentions of canning the show or disrupting transmission per se, so it’s safe to assume that Skeem Saam won’t be disappearing on fans as of yet if the negotiations go well.
