Dineo Rabotapi Speaks On Tough Times After Soapie Was Cancelled

 

Musician and former Isithembiso actress Dineo Rabotapi has revealed that she went through some very tough times financially when Mzansi Magic dumped the show.

The actress who played the role of the manipulative Zoleka on the soapie was gutted when the show was cancelled last year. She suffered a double setback when South Africa went into the Covid-19 induced national lockdown soon after, which adversely impacted her opportunities for performing and earning.

The multi-talented media personality who has recorded some songs with music superstars, SPHEctacula and DJ Naves told the Daily Sun, how the period had been trying for her financially,

“Things were obviously not easy for many of us.

“But lockdown made things worse as everything came to a standstill.”

The 23-year-old said that she was going nack to music because of her passion for it.

“I have a Gqom song with them that was released a while ago.

“But I’m going back to music because I’m passionate about it.” said the 23-year-old.

Dineo Rabotapi also narrated that at the worst point of her financial woes, some producers tried to take advantage of her by offering her opportunities in exchange for sexual favours. However, she remained firm and did not give in to their lascivious advances.

“Some producers also asked for sexual favours before giving me a gig, but I didn’t give in.

“I’m not willing to go that far to get ahead. There’s a lot I want to achieve, but on merit.”

After the restrictions were lifted, Dineo managed to get back on solid after the lockdown restrictions were eased which enabled her to start performing again.
