The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), established in 1964, is the backdrop for this role.
Located in Trieste, Italy, ICTP was founded by Nobel Laureate Abdus Salam with the mission of equipping scientists from developing nations with the knowledge and skills necessary for long and productive careers.
Under the guidance of the Division Senior Coordinator and the supervision of the Head of the Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics Section, the Research Scientist P3 plays a pivotal role in:
- Scientific Research: Initiating, developing, and coordinating research projects in computational material science for sustainable energy applications.
- Mentoring post-doctoral fellows, visitors, and students.
- Presenting research findings at major international conferences.

Education and Training:
- Teaching in the Diploma program and supervising student theses.
- Providing scientific guidance and mentorship to M.Sc. and Ph.D. students.

Education and Experience for UNESCO Research Scientist P3 International Position
- An advanced University degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Physics, Material Science, or a related discipline.
- At least four (4) years of relevant professional research experience in computational material science for sustainable energy applications or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and mentoring students at various academic levels.
