Technical Director: Africaid Deadline: 11 September 2020 (COB) About Africaid is a community organisation which through its Zvandiri programme, integrates community prevention, treatment, care and support for children, adolescents and young people living with HIV. Works with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) and National AIDS Council in implementing these interventions with funding from USAID, Zim-TTECH, UNICEF, ELMA, READY+, Maruva Trust and ZACH. Position summary The Technical Director’s role is a key position with very huge demands at any given time hence the person should be a team player, good at multitasking with excellent strategy formulation skills who achieves balance in their life and grow the enthusiasm of fellow employees for the global achievement of the organisational set goals and objectives. Job description The Technical Director will be responsible for the overall management of the clinical elements of Africaid’s Zvandiri program. He/she will lead Africaid’s team in strengthening the integration and scale up of evidence-based, quality innovations which improve clinical outcomes among children, adolescents and young people living with HIV. The Technical Director will work with Africaid’s Head of Programmes to ensure that paediatric and adolescent clinical support services are integrated within their work planning, implementation and reporting. The Technical Director will also participate in policy development, donor and implementing partner meetings and with technical working groups with the Ministry of Health and Child Care. S/He is responsible for contributing to the program’s strategic direction, and building the clinical capacity and expertise within the Zvandiri programme. Qualifications The Technical Director must have: A degree in medicine with additional post-graduate qualifications (e.g. post graduate degree in public health); at least 5 years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS in the Zimbabwean context; part of it should be in leading pediatric and adolescent HIV programming; proven working experience with MOHCC structures from National to District level; including community service delivery; hands on experience in implementing large nationwide programs of over $1m per year; proven experience in the development of HIV service delivery guidelines; implementation tools and job aides; previous experience in implementing a USG program an added advantage.
