We are currently recruiting for a Production Planner (Sun - Thurs 5.30am - 2.00pm) within the Sausage Department to be based at our Walkers Deli & Sausage, Leicester site.

Responsible For


You will need to carry out the required production planning and scheduling activities within the Sausage manufacturing business unit.

Planning MPS Volume through Preactor, covering demand and stock holding within life

Scheduling of production through the INFOR AS scheduling system

Monitoring and reporting on material variances, labour requirements and KPI’s.

Forecast maintenance and order analysis

Data maintenance

The responsibility will also include the appropriate management control and enhancement of key business drivers such as monitoring adherence to plan, management of stock levels of work in progress and finished goods, calculating and advising on production throughput capacities relating to promotions and seasonal peaks and troughs. You will continually challenge and strive for improvements in targets, standards and other agreed key performance indicators, using an innovative and pro-active approach.

To ensure that Production Plans are prepared in a manner that satisfies customer demand / specification and that plans are presented such that they pay due consideration at all times to the most cost-effective economical means of production, avoiding premium time working.

Maintain close liaison and understanding of the plants capabilities with regard to throughput and hourly rates.

Maintain up to date knowledge of product range and throughput capabilities on all lines

Ensure production and scheduling plans are regularly updated to reflect changes as advised by the commercial department and NPD Dept.

Liaise with Purchasing department to ensure the appropriate control and efficient utilisation of raw materials and packaging.

Monitor Key Performance Indicators and report upon each week.

Attend Daily Production meetings and advise on Planning activities

Process customer orders via EDI and INFOR Systems.

Clear understanding of Planning fundamentals and able to apply skills effectively

Planning experience within the food industry desirable

Highly numerate and computer literate

Experienced in using Planning/WMS and inventory control systems

Some flexibility required during peak times
