Main Duties
Team Effectiveness
Individually accountable for delivery through efforts of others.
Accountable for others' time, task and output quality.
Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
Assists with the development and training of Actuarial Analysts and Actuarial Assistants.
Plans and assigns work over the applicable period.
Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
Creates a climate for optimal performance and manages performance.
Actuarial Service Delivery
Takes responsibility for all deliverables for the Actuarial department.
Checks and signs off work done by Actuarial Analysts and Actuarial Assistants
Checks for and ensures appropriateness of the methodologies and underlying models used as well as assumptions made in all technical actuarial work.
Implements a management framework which ensures all the key models for the department adhere to generally acceptable standards for usability and are properly documented.
Support strategy formulation, implementation and review by providing appropriate insights through various analyses
Translates actuarial concepts into client-friendly terminology for presentation to clients, management and the board.
Provides input for the setting of Group business sales and marketing objectives and the formulation and implementation of strategies and action plans to achieve those objectives.
Generates and reviews the Group business sales and marketing budget.
Manages risk by ensuring that products and processes are compliant with policies, procedures and legislation.
Provides input in the development of Group business products in line with market trends.
Establishes and maintains an on-going business relationship with existing and prospective clients.
Leads in the recruitment, training, development and retention of staff with the appropriate skills and competence levels.
Generates board and management reports.
Manages brand awareness and delivery of the intended value proposition to clients and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
A first degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics
A minimum of 9 actuarial subject passes or equivalent from any recognised actuarial body.
At least 4 years relevant experience
Experience in Marketing is an added advantage
Professional groups/ memberships that the job incumbent should join:
Actuarial Society of Zimbabwe
Additional training required
The incumbent may need the following on-going training in-order to perform this job more effectively:
Programming and training on specialized actuarial software
