Home Care Assistant: Mazowe River Bridge Centre Old People’s Home

Reporting to: IGA Support Officer
Home care assistants work with the elderly, disabled, mentally ill or terminally ill to provide personal assistance; Assist with a variety of daily tasks including personal grooming; Assist elderly or disabled adults with daily living activities; Take the necessary measures to ensure that the lives of older people in the home is easier and more comfortable Need to be proficient in budgeting, resource planning, logistics and development and implementation of care plans for inmates.
Perform housekeeping duties such as
Cooking - minimum 2 meals a day before 10.30am and not later than 6pm; Cleaning of older persons houses to be done daily in the morning; washing clothes and dishes as and when they are dirty, and; Running errands where the responsible people are absent; Engaging in recreational activities with the older persons; Administer bedside and personal care, such as ambulation and personal hygiene assistance; Perform health-care related tasks, such as monitoring vital signs and medication; Record and report all resident illness, staff absences, and budget concerns; Home care Assistant must be able to work with a variety of people, including doctors, residents, families, therapists, and community leaders to ensure services are timely provided to the needy areas.
The Home Care Assistant must develop a budget for the organization and submit all expenses for approval by the Income Generating Activities Support Officer
Job Specification
In addition to health care skills and knowledge, the Home care Assistant must have business experience and be familiar with budgeting, planning and finance; A HCA must have written and verbal communication skills to direct the activities of others along with leadership skills; Computer skills are necessary for the duties of a HCA; Class 4 Drivers License; Excellent people skills
