We are currently recruiting for a Head of People within the Personnel Department to be based at our Walkers Deli & Sausage, Leicester site.

Job Opportunity


Support the goals and objectives of the business by building and sustaining a high performance culture and unlocking potential through talent development at all levels in the business. The Head of People acts as a role- model, maximising the contribution the People function makes throughout Walkers Deli & Sausage both through own efforts and through supporting, developing and measuring others across the business. You'll champion innovation and manufacturing excellence and lead on building and sustaining people values and engagement practices. Demonstrating a caring and positive attitude, you will lead on the implementation of operational and strategic people policies and activities.


The Key Accountabilities Will Include

Develop and implement the People Strategy in line with the Group and Walkers Deli & Sausage goals and objectives under the Six Touchpoints of: Performance Management; Learning & Development; Resourcing, Talent, Succession Management; Culture, Communications and Engagement; Reward & Recognition: Engaging people through change; :

Lead the People team on resourcing & talent acquisition, learning & development, employee relations and employee engagement activities

Be accountable for the performance of the people function, as well as providing advice, guidance and support on all people related matters

Lead the analysis of employee survey feedback and data, implement initiatives that build and sustain a culture of fairness, trust, dignity & respect aligned to Samworth Brothers core values of People Quality Profit (PQP)

Lead on performance enhancement, contribute to long-term goals around business and people development, including succession planning

Provide support and coaching to senior managers in the delivery of business change initiatives

Use the People Portal as an enabler to maximize ROI and increase people value adding activities

The Right Person

You will be someone who is self-motivated and focussed on the customer. You will demonstrate initiative and ownership. You value others and their contribution and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues. You will be flexible and adaptable to change.

CIPD qualified

Extensive operational HR experience in Food Manufacturing, FMCG, Retail, Logistics or other manufacturing environments

Strong employee relations and employment legislation experience

Evidence in leading and developing highly effective teams.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact, negotiate and influence at all levels
