REPSSI is the leading African Psychosocial Support organisation is inviting applications from suitable candidates for a District Psychologist position. REPSSI’s vision is that all girls, boys and youth enjoy psychosocial and mental wellbeing. The organisation has strong partnerships with governments (particularly the ministries responsible for social services, education and health), development partners, international organisations and NGOs in thirteen countries of East and Southern Africa. REPSSI is registered in Zimbabwe as a Private Voluntary Organisation, PVO No 10/12. For fifteen years, REPSSI has provided technical capacity enhancement to its partners to strengthen communities’ and families’ ability to promote the psychosocial wellbeing of their children and youth.
Position summary
The District Psychologist position is a one year role that will ensure that the organisation will provide Psychological services and capacity building within the REPSSI humanitarian intervention in either Chipinge or Buhera districts and coordinate other districts. Plan, execute, and finalize project delivery according to set deadlines and within budget, this includes coordinating the efforts of district focal persons and stakeholders in order to deliver project activities according to plan and working with partners and government officials to define and review the project deliverables and oversee quality control in designated districts throughout the life cycle of the project.
Job description
The District Psychologist will be expected to: Direct and manage project implementation in the target districts; Plan the program deliverables and oversee quality control throughout the life cycle of the emergency project; Coordinate and monitor activities in the target districts, Establish and maintain relationships with relevant district and provincial authorities and stakeholders, Represent REPSSI in relevant district and provincial coordinating bodies such as emergency response thematic clusters especially the Health, Education and Protection Clusters; Liaise with other NGOs working in the same districts; Facilitate the accelerating of access to PSS for cyclone Idai and drought affected communities; Support systems and services for identification, documentation, tracing, reunification and appropriate alternative care placement for separated and unaccompanied children (IDTR); Provide training and appropriate support to voluntary foster families who have accepted to receive and take care of children deprived of parental care including orphans and Unaccompanied and Separated Children; Strengthen the child protection environment through support to public awareness and provide training to Ward and Village Child Protection committee, CCWs and CFS facilitators.
Qualifications
Relevant educational background in Psychology; Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience; Practical field experience in development contexts; Practical experience in training and/or facilitation of groups; Experience in programme design, implementation, M&E and research for psychosocial support; Experience in conducting field-based baseline assessments; Experience in international, regional and/or national networking and knowledge management; Work experience with large NGOs, government departments and/or international cooperating partners; Prepared to travel to difficult to reach areas.
