Department of Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology; Department of Applied Physics and Telecommunications; Department of Chemical Technology; Department of Computer Science; Department of Food Science and Nutrition; Department of Surveying and Geomatics
Post: Chief Technician (6 post). 1 Post per department
Duties and Responsibilities
- Offer leadership and Management of Laboratory services and technical support to learning, teaching, research and innovation.
- Development of lab policies, strategies and new lab test procedures
- Supervise overall planning of laboratory programmes, carry out induction and performance reviews of technicians, ensuring that appropriate training is given as necessary
- Upgrading of laboratory technologies, techniques, skills and protocols whenever required as well maintain and repair equipment
Prepare annual progress of the laboratory and implement laboratory safety and quality control.
Maintain laboratory inventory and coordinate purchasing of all laboratory supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
B-Tech / BSc Honours Degree or an equivalent in the relevant field plus
Five (5) years of laboratory experience in a tertiary institution, research institute or relevant industry.
