World Vision Zimbabwe is offering two Graduate Intern positions for enthusiastic individuals interested in Child Protection and Advocacy. Located in Nyanga and Mbire, these internships provide a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children while gaining valuable experience in the field.

World Vision Graduate Internships

As a Graduate Intern (Child Protection and Advocacy), your primary responsibility is to collaborate with the Area Program Sector Leads to ensure the seamless integration of child protection initiatives across all sectors and programs. By actively engaging with local communities and supporting grassroots child protection efforts, you will contribute to the well-being of children. Here are the key responsibilities:

Monitoring Child Protection Issues: Work closely with the Sponsorship team to monitor child protection concerns for registered children and others, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Community Engagement: Facilitate the implementation of the “It Takes A World” (ITAW) campaign and other related commemorations at the district level, fostering community involvement in child protection.

Integration Across Programs: Ensure the integration of child protection principles and practices into all Area Program Technical Programs.

Advocacy and Child Protection Models: Contribute to the rollout of advocacy and child protection models, advocating for the rights and safety of children.

Collaboration with Social Development: Liaise with the Department of Social Development to coordinate child protection interventions effectively. Attend and organize workshops and trainings at both the Area Program and district levels.

Community Support: Provide guidance and support to local community child protection groups, empowering them to play an active role in child protection.

Reporting and Representation: Develop work plans, write reports and stories of change, and represent the Area Program in District Child Protection Working Groups.

Requirements

To be considered for these internships, you should meet the following qualifications and skills:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Child Protection programming.
  • Basic knowledge of the Case Management system.
  • Familiarity with child protection issues, policies, and relevant legislation is a plus.
  • A demonstrated understanding of gender-based violence and protection issues.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including office packages like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
