WCPI 2024 Fellowship Opportunity For Women’s Policy Issues ($3,400 Monthly Stipend + $1000 Health Insurance)
Essential components of the application are as follows. Applications that remain incomplete past the deadline will not be considered:
- Resume
- Official academic transcripts
- Three recommendation letters
- Responses to two essay prompts
- Fully filled out application form submitted by the stipulated deadline
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants should be enrolled in a graduate program or should have finished such a program within two years preceding the start date of the fellowship.
- Candidates must have successfully completed a minimum of nine hours of graduate coursework before application and demonstrate a keen interest in research and policy formulation related to women’s issues and family concerns.
- Applicants must be legally qualified to work within the United States.
Why Pursue the Congressional Fellowship on Women and Public Policy?
These fellowships aim to develop future leaders in public policy creation by focusing on women’s perspectives, experiences, and necessities. Run by the WCPI, this fellowship stands out as the only program of its kind on Capitol Hill at the graduate level.
Fellowship Duties:
Fellows are expected to dedicate 40 hours weekly to work in a congressional office as legislative assistants handling policy issues impacting women. The fellows also participate in weekly issue seminars under the direction of the WCPI team.
Selection Criteria:
The selection of fellows hinges on academic proficiency and evident interest in the public policy process. Successful candidates are articulate, adaptable, and possess strong writing skills.
While fellows may come from nearly any discipline, the WCPI advocates for equal opportunity within its fellowship program and welcomes applicants regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, experience, political affiliation, or academic background. All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Fellowship Award:
Fellows receive an approximate monthly stipend of $3,400 gross for seven months (January-July). In addition, they are provided with an extra $1,000 for health insurance purchase.
