Volunteers Are Urgently Needed At Zimbabwe Workcamps Association

Background and History:

The Zimbabwe Workcamps Association (ZWA) is a locally inspired youth volunteer organization founded in October 1993.

It is non-political, non-sectarian, and not for profit, welcoming members above the age of sixteen regardless of nationality, gender, race, religion, political view, or educational qualification.

ZWA’s mission is to promote intercultural education, international and national understanding through voluntary services, peace, solidarity, and community development.

ZWA is registered with the Zimbabwe Youth Council under the Ministry of Youths, Sports, Arts, and Recreation.

It is a member of the Southern Africa Workcamps Cooperation (SAWC), the Network of Africa Voluntary Services (NAVO), and the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) under UNESCO. ZWA employs international voluntary services for education and community development.

About Us – Zimwork camps

Paiyapo Arts and Heritage Centre:

Paiyapo Arts and Heritage Centre, nestled in a forest rich in indigenous trees, features a women’s museum showcasing artifacts related to feminine issues, a craft room displaying crafts and paintings, and a dance arena for cultural festivals.

The centre also includes a marine environmental conservation model highlighting water body ethics.

ZWA proposes a work camp at Paiyapo Arts and Heritage Centre to engage with the Ndau community, offering hands-on activities and cultural immersion.

ZWA’s Fundamental Principles:

ZWA believes that volunteerism provides alternative education and training opportunities. Volunteers broaden their horizons, familiarize themselves with different environments, and develop self-esteem.

They learn responsibility and teamwork. Projects rooted in local communities offer the best integration for volunteers, enhancing the educational value for all involved.

Scope of Work for Volunteers:

Volunteers at Paiyapo Arts and Heritage Centre will support environmental conservation, creative endeavors, marine conservation, green educative programs, outreach on green culture, dances and folktales, heritage conservation, and knowledge sharing about herbs and medicinal plants.
