The overarching goal is to enhance the well-being of vulnerable populations, fortifying their resilience against climate shocks in targeted communities.

This organization envisions achieving four key outcomes through its program:

  • Improved Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Targeted Communities
  • Enhanced Climate adaptation and mitigation in targeted communities
  • Diversified livelihoods and improved food security in targeted communities
  • Raised awareness on inclusive education, gender equality, equity, and inclusion of people with disabilities

In pursuit of its mission, the organization is now actively seeking the services of a Documentary Consultant to visually document the impactful journey of the Livelihoods and Resilience Building Program.

2. Objective

The primary objective is to produce a 20-30 minute documentary film and a comprehensive 15-20 page program booklet highlighting the program’s achievements, impact, best practices, and approaches.

3. Specific Tasks for the Service Provider

Under the direct supervision of the organization’s program leader, the selected Documentary Consultant will be responsible for several key tasks:

  • Develop a 20-30 minute video documentary and a 15-20 page program booklet covering the three operational districts.
  • Gather supporting evidence through interviews with project beneficiaries, host communities, project staff, and government stakeholders.
  • Create a documentary script and storyboard for approval before filming.
  • Conduct appropriate video filming and interviews, ensuring diverse perspectives are captured.
  • Present a draft documentary and program booklet for feedback.
  • Produce a final documentary film (20-30 minutes) in DVD format and a program booklet (15-20 pages).

4. Structure of the Documentary

The documentary will follow a compelling structure, including narration of the project’s inception, aerial views, interviews with project participants, government stakeholders, local leaders, and host communities, visuals of community assets, and staff member interviews.

5. Filming and Editing

  • The documentary will be filmed in HD 4K or 6K quality.
  • Professional sound recording and editing will be employed to ensure optimal sound quality.
  • Vernacular languages will be used in interviews, with English subtitles added for wider comprehension.
  • The documentary will have a runtime of 20-30 minutes, inclusive of end titles.

6. Guiding Principles and Values

The research team must adhere to professional and ethical standards, including the organizational Code of Conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy, and Prevention of Sexual Abuse and Harassment Policy.

7. Qualifications

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • A degree in Media & Communication Studies, Development Studies, International Development, Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in filming and documenting humanitarian and development programs.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in research or academic institutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
