The Sishen Iron Ore Corporation Community Development Trust invites prospective learners to apply for their Bursaries Programme for the 2023 academic year.

Students in SIOC-CDT beneficiary communities are encouraged to apply, but special preferences will be given to the following:

The requirements to apply for the Sishen Bursaries:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Under the age of 35
  • You must live or come from the below beneficiary areas:
    Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
    Kamagra Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
    Joe Morolong Local Municipality(Northern Cape)
    Tsantsabane Local Municipality (Northern Cape)
    Thabazimbi Local Municcipality (limpopo)
  • Be Currently in Matric or completed Matric
  • Must be studying or intending to study towards an undergraduate or postgraduate in the fields listed above
  • Minimum overall average of 65% in the most recent academic results
  • Be accepted in a recognised public institution in South Africa for 2023
  • Must need financial assistance and come from a household with an income of less than R600 000 per year
  • Students with disabilities will be given particular preference
  • Undergraduate students will also have a particular preference

The bursary will cover the following expenses:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Study material
  • Accommodation
  • Stipend every quarter

Assistive devices which help enhance learning will be given to students with disabilities.

Required documents

  • Certified copy of ID card
  • Matric September results if still in Matric and certificate is not available yet
  • Matric certificate if you finished Matric
  • Recent Tertiary academic results or transcript if you are currently studying
  • Proof of acceptance to study at a tertiary institution on the school’s letterhead
  • Motivational letter to support the application on 1 page
  • Proof of household income (payslips or affidavit if employed)
  • Proof of residence
  • Medical letter explaining disability, if applicable
