There is an urgent need in the Department of Health for the services of individuals registered with the South
African Nursing Council (SANC). We are awaiting applications for vacant nursing posts as indicated below.

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent

•Post-basic qualification with a duration of at least 1-year Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health
Assessment, Treatment and Care accredited with the SANC (i.e. R48).

Experience:
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC

Primary Health Care Services: • A valid driver’s licence will serve as an additional requirement for the
Professional Nurse and Clinical Nurse Practitioner posts • Nursing personnel must work at both the clinic and
mobile unit, which will also serve as an additional requirement.
Note: No payment of any kind is required when applying for these posts.
This note is only applicable to PN Spec: Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualifications
will be appointed into the general stream and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualifications
within a predetermined period of time. Candidates without the required post-basic qualifications can only
be appointed if no suitable candidates with the required educational qualifications could be found.
This note is applicable to PN Spec, PN Gen, CNP, Staff Nurse, Nursing Assistant: Candidates who are not in
possession of the stipulated registration requirements may also apply. Such candidates will only be
considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration with the relevant council
and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before
the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for
registration in a specific post basic qualification with the South African Nursing Council (including individuals
who must apply for change in registration status).
A non-pensionable rural allowance is payable at certain areas at West Coast District, Cape Winelands
Health District, Overberg District, Garden Route District and Central Karoo District for Professional Nurses and
