Mzwandile Ngubeni Joins The River After 5 Year Break From TV
Media personality and actor Mzwandile Ngubeni has joined the cast of The River.
This marks his return to TV, as the actor had been on a 5 year hiatus from acting.
Mzwandile Ngubeni will be be playing the role of Elvis Baloyi, the pilot who chartered the helicopter which was brought crashing down by Lindiwe, which resulted in the death of Tumi.
Mzwandile opened up on his role on The River
“The character I play is a pilot who possesses sick traits of toxic masculinity. Elvis is like that guy who was not admired by chicks in school and then grows up to be accomplished, yet yearns for what he couldn’t have back in school.”
The actor had taken a 5 year break from his acting career to focus on his business, Mazothe Media.
He has a marketing and communications company, which uses different mediums such as radio, audiovisual and industrial theatre to create marketing opportunities and facilitation.
Mzwandile opened up on being back on TV, remarking that TV has changed since he was last in the game.
Being back on TV made me realise the game has changed; it’s digital, fast paced and about more than just acting but also about doing more outside for yourself as an actor. Like marketing has become very important,”
“Back then we didn’t focus on that and we just went to parties and work only. There is now a strategy behind the game which is beautiful. It’s definitely different being back on TV but my heart is happy.”
In the past, he has appeared on high ranking telenovelas like Isidingo, Generations, Unicity, Mzansi, Intersexions, City Ses’la, Justice for All, Backstage, Now or Never and Umlilo.
