
If you are an International South African student, it is expected that you may need an International scholarships to help assist you in financing your education. Many organizations have heeded the call to give back to society through education funding to some selected individuals.
We have compiled a list of some of the International scholarships that are open currently but will close in January 2023. Each scholarship requires you to have finished Matric or be now doing Matric. The scholarships’ requirements are different; they all stipulate terms in which they judge eligibility.
Most of these scholarships are for South African citizens unless stated otherwise. You should apply for a bursary before the deadline date to be considered.
UC Berkeley Mastercard Foundation scholarship

Requirements
- You have to be a citizen of any of the Sub-Saharan African Countries
- You need to be admitted to a UC Berkeley course
- Be able to prove that you are great at school
- You must be from an underprivileged background
- Be willing to go back to your country after completion of studies
- Females, disabled people, refugees and displaced individuals have the first preference
How to apply:
- Go to the UC Berkeley Mastercard scholarship portal
- Select your field of study
- After understanding their requirements, click on Apply
- Finish the application process and submit
The closing date is on 16 January, depending on your course.
Gates Cambridge International Scholarship

This scholarship is for postgraduate degrees and PhDs. You will have to apply for any postgraduate degree available at Cambridge University.
Requirements
- You must be making a plan to study at the University of Cambridge in 2023
- You must be academically outstanding
- You must not be a UK citizen
- Be prepared to relocate to the UK
- You should be able to show leadership skills
How to apply
- After you get admitted for one of the postgraduate courses, you can apply
- At Cambridge University postgraduate portal, click on the funding
- Choose the Gates Cambridge scholarship
- Furnish them with a personal letter of a maximum of 3 000 characters
- If you are studying for a PhD, submit your research proposal
- Three reference letters
The deadline for this scholarship is 5 January 2023, and they opened today, 1 December 2023.
