Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Join UN Women’s Online Volunteering Programme for Expo 2023
UN Women, committed to promoting gender equality and women’s rights, has launched its Women’s Entrepreneurship Expo series called “Partner and Accelerate.”
Following the success of the “Connect and Create” Expo in Europe and Central Asia in 2021, Expo 2023 aims to further empower women entrepreneurs and enhance their access to markets and finance.
Through strategic partnerships with international finance institutions and private sector companies, the Expo has facilitated business connections and growth opportunities for over 1,600 women entrepreneurs.
Context
Building on the achievements of previous Expos, Expo 2023 focuses on the inclusion of women-owned businesses in corporate supply chains, enabling more women to become successful entrepreneurs regionally and beyond.
The event has garnered support from various partners and mentor networks, facilitating new business connections and maximizing the potential for women entrepreneurs’ business growth.
Task Description
The UN Women Online Volunteering Programme seeks dedicated online volunteers to support and guide women entrepreneurs throughout Expo 2023.
Volunteers will review and assess applications, develop individual profiles for women entrepreneurs, and maintain regular contact with them.
They will also plan and conduct orientation sessions to guide entrepreneurs through the Expo stages. Volunteers will work closely with UN Women and relevant partners to assess participating entrepreneurs’ needs and evaluate their learnings after the event.
Additionally, volunteers will assist in organizing virtual booths for women entrepreneurs and prepare a detailed report on their accomplishments during the assignment.
Deliverables
Volunteers will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Review and assess up to 200 applications of women entrepreneurs, grouping them per sector and developing individual profiles.
- Conduct one orientation session per language to guide women entrepreneurs through the Expo stages.
- Maintain regular contact with women entrepreneurs, responding to their queries and ensuring their active participation in various activities (up to 5 working days).
- Conduct pre-event assessments and post-event evaluations on the knowledge and needs of participating women entrepreneurs (up to 4 working days).
- Support in systematizing information for the creation of up to 15 virtual booths per language.
- Prepare a detailed report on the accomplished tasks during the assignment (up to 1000 words).
UN Women Online Volunteering Programme Requirements
To be eligible for the volunteering opportunity, applicants should have experience in systematizing information, possess good communication and organizational skills, and be proficient in report writing.
Fluency in English is required, along with fluency in one of the following languages: Armenian, Albanian, Bosnian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Macedonian, Romanian, Serbian, Tajik, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
Additionally, volunteers must have good computer skills in Windows, knowledge of internet communications, and proficiency in MS Office applications.
