Dawn Thandeka King Reason For Leaving Uzalo Finally Revealed
Uzalo fans were devastated after after learning that leading actress, Dawn Thandeka King will no longer be part of the show.
Dawn Thandeka King is well known for her irreplaceable role as Lindiwe aka MaNgcobo, on Uzalo, and the actress will be leaving a gaping hole in the show.
Uzalo is set to shake up its storylines, after viewership had dropped last year, even though it’s the best watched show in Mzansi at the moment.
Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela revealed that Dawn is set to get a leading role in a new and upcoming soapie called Diepsloot, which is produced by Black Brain Pictures.
Mid last year, the actress was said to be unhappy on the soapie, amid rumors that she was set to leave the soapie, alongside actor Siyabonga Shibe, who played the role of Qhabanga.
The two actors denied that they were axed from the show, however a few months later, Siyabonga Shibe went on to leave Uzalo.
Dawn Thandeka King was accused having a diva tendency on the show and was rumored to be demanding that the producers and writers change storylines involving her character on the show.
The actress denied there was tension with the showrunners at the time and denied that she wanted to influence its direction.
After news about her departure spread, the actress revealed that she left Uzalo because she wanted to grow in her profession.
“This opportunity couldn’t have come at the perfect time. It’s been a challenging 2020. It’s time for new opportunities and for growth. People have seen me in different roles, but this one was the longest one I played consistently.” She said
The actress revealed that she was looking forward to relocate to Joburg again and some of her children are there already, so having her family in one place is something she is really looking forward to.
