BASF bursaries for Black Female South Africans in Science

The BASF South Africa Trust offers full-cost bursaries to Black Female South Africans who are struggling financially and have strong academic records.

The BASF Bursary is for learners in the disciplines below:

  • Engineering
  • Sciences
  • Chemistry

Requirements for one to apply for the bursary

The applicant should satisfy the below minimum requirements to qualify for the BASF bursary. Your application will not be considered if you fail to meet any of the requirements.

  • South African Citizen
  • Registered to study in the fields mentioned above
  • Female Black students, in terms of the BBBEE codes
  • Disadvantaged financial background, which meets the NFSAS funding requirements
  • Studying at a recognized South African University
  • A strong academic record
  • No criminal record in any country
  • Should not have received another bursary, scholarship, or grant except for NSFAS in 2022

The BASF Bursary will cover the following expenses:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Any academic books
  • Monthly Stipend

The bursary will be given from the second year of your studies

How to apply for the bursary:

The below documents are required to be submitted:

  • A detailed CV (maximum of 3 pages)
  • A 2-page essay or motivational letter detailing the current and future state of your field of study, how you will contribute when you graduate and why you should get financial aid.

Certified copies of these documents are also required:

  • ID document
  • Matric results and academic record
  • Parent or guardian’s proof of income (i.e. pay slip, financial statements, or affidavit for self-employed and unemployed parents or guardians)

The application and supporting documents must be sent in PDF form to basf_za_trust@basf.com

Decisions on who to award the bursaries to will be made to short-listed candidates after receipt of a certified academic record with 2022 final results, which should be submitted by 4 January 2023 to basf_za_trust@basf.com

The deadline for the bursary applications is 10 December 2022
