Job Title: Water Technician Location: Chipinge (Tongogara Refugee Camp) PURPOSE OF POSITION Provide technical assistance to the formulation, planning, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of water supply and sanitation development activities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To ensure that Hydrological survey / audit is conducted and BOQs drafted for the purpose of material procurement.
  • To effectively conduct mobilization meetings in the project area.
  • To conduct Village Based Consultative Inventories.
  • Coordinate and supervise the delivery of contract services by private contractors for the construction of water supply and sanitation facilities.
  • Contribute to the design and development of appropriate IEC and training materials for O & M education.
  • Implement promotion and training program for Community Based O & M of water sources and sanitation facilities.
  • To ensure that Water Quality controls are regularly conducted.
  • Participate in project appraisals, reviews and evaluation.
  • To supervise construction of piped water schemes, drilling of new boreholes and installation of pumps and other construction works at the site.
  • To supervise rehabilitation of water points and ensure that other construction works are done as per need at identified water points.
  • Contribute to the timely and accurate preparation of project reporting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • A Diploma in Water/Civil Engineering, Water and Sanitation, Rural Development or any other relevant discipline.
  • Verifiable experience with the construction of piped water schemes, boreholes, and other types of rural water supply systems.
  • Verifiable experience coordinating and supervising contract services by private contractor for the construction of rural water supply systems.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in implementing rural water supply and sanitation projects.
  • Computer literacy is an added advantage.
  • A clean class (4) driver’s licence is essential
