Position Overview:
The Volunteer, Health Financing & Health Workforce (from here on "Volunteer") will be a member of the CHAI Zimbabwe's Health Financing & Health Workforce team and is expected to provide, program planning and implementation support to CHAI Zimbabwe's engagement with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) in optimizing use of financial resources available in the health sector and strengthening community health services. The Volunteer will provide critical support in the quantification and mapping of funding needs and available resources, understanding current costs of health interventions, helping the governments to identify funding gaps and access additional resources, and assessing the feasibility of a menu of financing options to expand the fiscal space within the health sector.
The position requires a highly motivated individual with outstanding analytical grounding, strong communication and problem-solving abilities. The position works with government officials and partners, and requires excellent relationship building, negotiation skills and a high degree of self-confidence. The successful candidate must be able to function independently and have a strong commitment to excellence with a keen eye for detail. She/he should also exhibit important personal qualities: resourcefulness, responsibility, tenacity, independence, energy, strong professional ethic and highest level of integrity.
Responsibilities
Provide robust data management and analytical support to the in-country team, and actively participate in structuring the analytical approach and problem solving in areas such as:
Support quantification and resource mapping exercises for the health sector and program costing.
Review specific funding channels to understand funding flows and potential areas of inefficiencies.
Build and use tools to assess potential for improved efficiency and effectiveness of health sector interventions at national and community level.
Actively support CHAI's engagement in community health, specifically by supporting the Ministry of Health and Child Care to implement the National Community Health Strategy through strengthened supportive supervision of Community Health Workers (CHWs), efficient CHW data recording and management systems and scale up of community interventions in line with the Comprehensive Package of Care.
Support management of processes to develop policy recommendations, conduct analyses, and seek stakeholder input in areas of Health Financing and Community Health
Collaborate with other CHAI teams to provide strategic and analytical support on cross-cutting projects.
Develop and maintain cordial and productive work relationships with government and partner officials.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in Public Health, Economics, Mathematics, Science, Business, or a related discipline.

Minimum 2 years' work experience in consulting, research or related
Strong analytical (quantitative and qualitative) and communication (written and verbal) skills.
High level of technical proficiency with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word
Able to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, both internally and externally
Exceptional diplomatic interpersonal skills and ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
Ability to travel at short notice and on a regular basis.
Experience in composing high-quality briefs, proposals, technical reports, guidelines, operational plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is desirable
Experience in conceiving, planning, and executing programs or projects with verifiable results and little external support.
