Video Producer for Zimbabwe's Reporting under the 2021 Voluntary National Review for Sustainable Development - Harare
Background
The Government of Zimbabwe volunteered to undertake a 2021 Voluntary National Review (VNR) to present the country’s progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 goals. This will be the second VNR, with the first one undertaken in 2017. The 2021 VNR will be presented during the 2021 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development that is convened under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
To showcase Zimbabwe’s progress on SDGs, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare is seeking to recruit a part-time videographer. The videographer will work under the supervision of the SDGs team within the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare with dual reporting to the UN through the Resident Coordinator’s Office.
The videographer will be required to have his/her own equipment and arrange appropriate scenes for taking the required video photographs including voice overs.
Duties And Responsibilities
Deliver a 30 minutes video to highlight Zimbabwe’s national roadmap to attain the SDGs by 2030. The video should highlight Zimbabwe’s progress, successes, good practice, actual work on the ground and ongoing efforts to achieve the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda. The video must be accompanied by a three-minute video and 6-minute visual presentation (9 minutes total). The three-minute video is to be presented by the Government of Zimbabwe, during VNR presentation at the 2021 High-Level Political Forum that is to be held in July 2021, while the visual presentation will be played as the background to the speech that is estimated to be 12-minutes long.
To develop a video script for Zimbabwe’s VNR presentation based on the VNR Report. This ‘story’ will be guided in consultation with a committee comprising the Government officials through the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, UN officials and the Consultant that is developing the Voluntary National Review Report.
In consultation with the committee, to identify and recommend sources of photos, footage and information that will be used in the video and visual presentation, and to present a storyboard for the video in consultation with the consultants for the VNR Report, and the appropriate production for the video, for example producing additional live-action footage, or animation.
Expected Outputs And Deliverables
Propose the production concept and schedule/timeline of the video, including additional live-action footage, or animation
Develop and propose a draft script;
Identify and source the audiovisual content for the video, in consultation with the Government of Zimbabwe and UN;
Develop storyboards for a 3-minute video that will be used in Zimbabwe’s VNR presentation in the HLPF, and for the visual presentation that will play in the background of the Minister’s speech;
To develop storyboards for two (2) 30-second teasers that can be played in the event.
Institutional Arrangement
The consultant will report to the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare with a dual reporting line to the UN through the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) with technical backstopping from UN Women.
Content, material and talent for the production must be reviewed and approved by the Government of Zimbabwe and the UN.

Functional Competencies

Required Skills And Experience
Diploma in videography and digital media with 5 years of experience in the field of video and digital production;
The videographer can work independently and understand the visual ethics related to development advocacy work;
A CV and portfolio as proof of these capabilities is needed;
Knowledge of the country and the local languages is considered as an asset.
Language Requirements
English with knowledge of local languages.
Copyrights
The photographs and audio visual material will be copyrighted to the Ministry of Public Services, Labour and Social Welfare and any violation of copyright law will be pursued appropriately.
