Leap Consulting, on behalf of our client in the agricultural sector, is recruiting for a Sustainability Coordinator. The purpose of the sustainability coordinator is to drive, improve, safeguard and report on organisational sustainability issues. Key focus areas in this position is the safeguarding of internationally compliant agricultural practices, the enhancement of farmer well being and the reduction of child labor. TASKS 
  • Create and maintain strategic plans related to sustainability projects.
  • Develop sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Assess sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as environmental effectiveness, cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and community acceptance. These initiatives should be closely related to global bodies such as the World Health Organization, International Labour Organisation and the Human Right’s Watch.
  • Provide technical or administrative support for sustainability programs or issues. This includes farmer and community engagements where we work to enhance farmer wellbeing.
  • Liaise with local regulatory authorities on sustainability matters and represent our organisation as a local ambassador for sustainability.
  • Monitor or track sustainability indicators such as farmer wellbeing and sufficiency, child labour, natural resource usage, deforestation and chemical recycling.
  • Provide stakeholder reports on sustainability goals.
  • Ensure the organisation is prepared for and passes international sustainability audits.
SKILLS 
  • Knowledge of the international sustainability goals including knowledge on the international sustainability goals.
  • Knowledge of the Zimbabwean farming environment including materials, inputs, methods, and tools.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, reporting and coordination of people and resources. The role requires large scale regional implementation of initiatives which need to be professionally monitored and evaluated.
  • Communication with persons inside such as supervisors and team members. Communicate with persons outside the organisation such as auditors, farmers, suppliers, and local and international sustainability authorities.
  • Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources including employees, farmers, suppliers and community members.  Compile this information into well managed and up to date sustainability databases.
  • Accurately analyse sustainability data for informed decision making using tools such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Prepare monthly and adhoc stakeholder reports and presentations.
REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Management or similar • At least 3 years working experience • Experience in the Tobacco Industry is preferable.
