Eligibility criteria

- Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Representative and/or Programme Specialist Reproductive Health or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Reproductive Health will be responsible for:
Technical Advice
- Assists in the reviewing of Reproductive Health preparedness and implementing strategies, including for humanitarian response.
- Assist the country office in implementing the project on Strengthening Emergency Obsteric and Neonatal Care in COVID hotspots in Zimbwbwe” and other related Sexual Reproductive Health and rights (SRHR) projects.
- Contributes to preparation of position papers, briefs, notes and reports on SRHR.
- Contributes to SRH commodity security including last mile assurance.
Program Management
- Assists in planning, monitoring, reporting, review and evaluation of SRHR projects.
- Undertakes monitoring field visits to the targeted districts as per agreed upon and coordinated plans.
- Contributes to preparing/organizing and participates in the APRs, MTRs and steering committee meetings and relevant technical working group meetings.
- Assists in developing SRH project proposals and resource mobilization efforts.
General
- Keeps abreast with UNFPA policies, programs and apply them to the given condition
- Ensures streamlining of UN reform and new aid environment principles.
- Participates in interagency theme or taskforces related to UN reform and new aid environment.
- Assists in the preparation of reports to headquarters and donors and perform any other functions in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
- Contributes to the visibility and communication in coordination with the communication team in Zimbabwe CO, ESARO, and the Tokyo Representation Office.
- Liaises and coordinates with the Japanese embassy in Zimbabwe.
- Assists in the other matters as may be requested by the Representative.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level
- Bachelor degree or equivalent
Educational additional comments
- Degree in relevant field – medicine, and or maternal health/midwifery, and or public health, and or social sciences and or other related field.
Required experience
- 24 Months
Experience remark
- Knowledge of sexual reproductive health;
- Preferably 2 years of experience in development program / projects is desirable. Prior work abroad is an asset;
Language skills
- English(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
- Japanese(Optional), Level – Working Knowledge
