Job Purpose:

To formulate the strategy and policies to control, manage direct and lead the functions across Nedbank Zimbabwe Limited and to ensure risks in relation to Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Financing (CFT) and Sanctions Programmes (SP) Exchange Control (EXCON) and Reputational Risk Management Programmes (RRMP) are managed, mitigated and reported. To formulate the strategy and policies to control, manage direct and lead the functions across Nedbank Zimbabwe Limited and to ensure risks in relation to Anti Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorist Financing (CFT) and Sanctions Programmes (SP) Exchange Control (EXCON) and Reputational Risk Management Programmes (RRMP) are managed, mitigated and reported.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate & deliver strategy and annual plans of Nedbank Zimbabwe’s AML, CFT and SP, EXCON and RRM function within budget and timelines. Identify & report the likelihood and probability of being imposed with a regulatory risk penalty, criminal liability and/or sanctions. Deliver on responsibilities as the appointed Money Laundering Control Officer per section 25 (2) of the Money Laundering and the Proceeds of Crime Act [Chapter 9:24]. Provide advice to stakeholders on AML, CFT, and SP, EXCON and RRMP through industry knowledge, competitor analyses, subject matter expertise and international best practice
  • Ensure that the Bank’s AML, CFT and SP, EXCON and RRMP business plans are developed, reviewed and updated with IBP and regulatory requirements. Formulate policy, framework and set standards for Nedbank Zimbabwe’s -AML, CFT and SP function aligned to statutory requirements and IBP. Report on the status of AML, CFT and SP, EXCON and RRMP including remedial actions to internal and external regulatory committees. Accountable for highly complex, challenging, specialized, strategic, client & business integrated solutions impacting across the Board, EXCO and industry particularly challenging regulators.
  • Manage reviews of the Bank’s AML, CFT and SP and Excon by preparing information for inspections by the RBZ or relevant regulator. Manage contravention and breaches associated with mandated regulatory risk standards. Develop, implement & review AML, CFT and SP, Excon, RR & TOM policies, manuals, risk assessments, processes, practices, training and frameworks. Hold stakeholders accountable for the implementation, internalisation and operationalisation of the Bank’s AML, CFT and SP, Excon and RR strategies and plans. Manage identified contravention and/or breaches associated with mandated local and international regulatory risk standards.
  • Build & maintain relationships with the regulator and/or supervisor on the implementation of the required controls, regulatory requirements and mandated local & international regulatory risk standards. Influence the regulatory frameworks and establish standards for AML, CFT, SP, EXCON and RRMP. Monitor compliance to mandated local and & ensure remedial actions are implemented and monitored. Monitor, provide oversight and ensure alignment on the implementation of AML, CFT and SP and Excon in country and reporting to regulatory committees on remedial plans progress
  • Integrated Financial Crime Risk Management evolution. Provide input & advise on Nedbank Zimbabwe’s reputational risk matters, risk profile and risk appetite. Analyse stakeholder & marketplace reputational risk threats and opportunities & provide solutions. Ensure the continuous and proactive monitoring of RR & provide input into risk reports to internal and external committees.
  • Develop and maintain the Bank’s RRM Framework, policies, processes and provide guidance to address reputational risk challenges. Improve & standardize policies, procedures & systems to reduce the events that could cause reputational damage. Review outcome of RR practices of stakeholders by analysing, reviewing & assessing internal controls presented as mitigants.

Qualifications & Experience

  • LLB, Chartered Accountant, Post Graduate (honours) Degree in Law or Commerce, Certificate in Anti – Money Laundering Control and/or Certified Association Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Masters’ Degree an added advantage.
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in quality management, including 3 years senior management experience.
