Job Summary:
The incumbent will provide technical support to community-based organizations (CBOs/ CSOs) to implement community-based activities for key populations in northern region (Ngamiland and Chobe) and Central region (Palapye, Serowe, Selebi Phikwe, Francistown and Boteti) . Technical Assistance will be provided on community mobilization/demand creation and the provision of clinical services i.e. community-based HIV testing and counseling (CBHTC), pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV self-testing (HIVST), linkage to care and treatment, family planning (FP), services for gender-based violence (GBV) victims, and sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatment.
Accountabilities:
- Provide technical support to the implementation of comprehensive strategies for reaching key populations and priority populations using EpiC tools and strategies for demand creation for HIV prevention and treatment services, including HIV testing, STI screening, HIV clinical management and supporting PLHIV to remain on treatment and reach viral suppression and TB/HIV control.
- Develop strategic behavior change communication plan and information, education and messaging around HIV services and other effective social mobilization strategies for reaching priority populations.
- Work closely with CSO partners to develop capacity to plan differentiated care models for community delivery of HIV services; mobile outreach activities, drop-in centres, home based services and other innovative ways.
- Support monitoring of CSO performance against workplans and targets, provide on-site and remote technical assistance.
- Strengthen EpiC’s relationships with local stakeholders, District Health Management Teams and strengthen collaborations for service delivery in the districts under their region to support Epic activities
- Liaise with regional GoB counterparts (including Regional Medical Officers, Regional Health Management Teams, District Health Management Teams, etc.), service providers, implementing partners and stakeholders to ensure that EpiC activities are well-coordinated and feed into national and regional programs, plans and achievements.
- Identify training opportunities for EpiC CSO and clinical staff within the districts and provide mentorship to implementing partners
- Responsible for quality management and quality improvement plans for the partners, ensuring that partners adhere to minimum clinical standards
- Contribute to technical briefs, reports, guidelines and other materials
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of health and development programs in Botswana including familiarity with relevant national guidelines, standards and protocols. Familiarity with Botswana public health sector at regional, district and council level and experience working with these teams.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
- High degree of proficiency in written and spoken English communication.
- Well-developed computer skills.
- Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with providing technical support for research studies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and prepare reports.
- Ability to problem solve and implements corrective action as needed.

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Economics, Education, Environment, Health, Human Development, Information Science, International Development, Social Sciences or Related Field.
Experience:
- Experience in the provision of community-based biomedical and demand generation services to KP.
- Experience implementing HIV/AIDS programs at community and facility level in Botswana; familiarity and experience with USAID/PEPFAR-funded programs.
- Experience in programs serving KP. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and sound understanding of the needs of KP.
- Experience in technical capacity building of Botswana CSOs, especially those working with KP.
- Proficiency with database management software and on-line search tools required.
- Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.
- Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private company.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Typical office environment.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 5-50 lbs.
