About

CeSHHAR is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the above-mentioned post under the UKRI funded “Towards ending HIV in Zimbabwe through focusing on improving targeting of HIV testing and uptake of HIV prevention in adolescent girls and young women”. The project has two main aims: (a) to inform the best allocation of HIV testing resources to maximize health and (b) to develop a PrEP implementation intervention for adolescent girls and young women who need it, with the potential to offer value for money. This project is in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care,

Job role

Working as part of a team, and reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Quantitative Researcher / Statistician will be responsible for conducting quantitative analysis. This will involve statistical analysis of cross-sectional observational data, analysis of data collected using a respondent driven sampling approach and discrete choice experiments; The incumbent will also be responsible for gathering the quantitative data, conducting the data analysis and report and scientific papers writing; The specific duties include: Assisting investigators in the development of quantitative research protocols, part of this project; Assisting with obtaining regulatory and ethical approvals; Assisting in the development of standard operating procedures related to quantitative data collection and management; Conduct statistical data analysis using appropriate methods; Timely reporting of quantitative data findings (including progress reports, conference abstracts and journal manuscripts); Dissemination on quantitative data findings (including presentation at community meetings and scientific conferences); Collation of data from the literature and other sources (e.g on testing costing) and any other research roles as may be assigned by the co-Investigator or Principal Investigator.


Qualifications and experience


A Masters level degree in Medical Statistics or equivalent; Experience working as a statistician / quantitative researcher in a health research setting; Experience using common statistical packages and statistical programming e.g Stata. Computer competency particularly with Microsoft Office packages; Commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary research team; Possession of certificates in GCP and Research Ethics will be an added advantage.
