Project Manager: SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) Deadline: 18 September 2020 Location: Bindura About Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it. SOS Children's Villages Association of Zimbabwe is a member of SOS International - a worldwide children's social welfare organisation, providing vulnerable children without homes with a family home and educational opportunities as well as strengthening families to reduce poverty. Purpose of the position The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the project designed to respond to psychosocial, mental health and economic lives of the beneficiaries that grew up in SOS Children’s Villages Bindura; The primary responsibility of this position will be to train the young adults on income generating activities and facilitate psychosocial support intervention for them; With the presence of start-up capital that comes with this project, the Project Manager is expected to mentor and support beneficiaries to be able to handle their own businesses, and prepare them for independent living; Her/his responsibilities will include but not limited to ensuring a comprehensive range of high standard of project implementation. S/he is the main contact person for the beneficiaries and contributes by helping them in settling in their new life; S/he facilitate process of sourcing for service providers and all those needed to deliver programs to support the beneficiaries; Additionally, s/he fulfils reporting and other management requirements related to project. The position holder shall maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality at the workplace. Duties & Responsibilities Source for psychologists, counsellors and mental health professionals to design and provide high-level therapeutic support to young adults; Mobilize project beneficiaries to attend all psychosocial sessions; Prepare and share psychosocial response progress report on each project beneficiary; Source and mobilize business trainers to train project beneficiaries on Income Generating Activities; Work with colleagues in the finance team to ensure that financial information included in the project proposal is accurately budgeted for and used for its intended business; Build strong relationships with representatives of funders through correspondence, phone calls, e-mail, face to face and by extending invitations to visit youth projects and special events wherever appropriate; Collaborate with the local business community and financial institutions to train young entrepreneurs (beneficiaries) through mentoring, business partnerships, supplier/client relationships, and financing; Work closely with colleagues especially those from the region and local partners to identify potential entrepreneur beneficiaries; Establish a positive and interactive relationship with each beneficiary to ensure they understand the intended outcome of the projects and benefits as outlined in the project design; Help each young adult to develop or begin to develop life skills and to accomplish specific goals; To provide social and community integration awareness to project beneficiaries and help them in their journey to independent living; Submit quarterly progress reports to CVI Representative, donor and other relevant stakeholders; Undertake financial monitoring, prepare regular expenditure reports, and make follow ups with Regional Office support advisors; Engage and mobilize community stakeholders to support young adults’ integration into the community; Facilitate Cottage building planning, verification of land acquisitions and documentations; At all times ensure that personal data of donors, sponsors, SOS CV beneficiaries and their families as well as SOS co-workers are handled confidentially and in accordance with prevailing SOS-IO data protection laws. Qualifications and Experience The Project Manager must have: University degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas; Education, Entrepreneurship, or Social Sciences; Five years’ experience in implementing development programmes relevant to youth mentorship and entrepreneurial development is a prerequisite; Experience in research and analysis related to the priorities of the youth and labour market; Experience in the development of policies, tools, and guidelines and in the design of educational and training programmes for the youth; The prospective candidate must have the ability to proactively develop different relationships at different levels meeting different needs of the youth such as training and mentoring skills; Project management skills that enable the management of a workload with competing priorities and deadlines; A demonstrable record of establishing, maintaining and developing long lasting partnerships with different stakeholders; Personal skills and willingness to work collaboratively with the youth; Ability to work with the fundraising team and other stakeholders in the organisation; A commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and have experience in working with youth from a diverse background; Enthusiasm for socio economic change and commitment to the work of project.
