About OPHID
The Organization for Public Health Interventions and Development (OPHID) PVO 31/16 develops and implements innovative approaches and strategies to strengthen HIV Care and Treatment services in Zimbabwe, by providing enhanced access for communities to comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment. OPHID works with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) in implementing these interventions.
Overall responsibility
The Project Documentation Intern is responsible for supporting the Technical Director with the Knowledge Management activities of the program including planning, implementation, monitoring and documentation of OPHID project activities. Under the guidance of the Technical director, the Project Documentation Intern will be responsible for developing effective workplan for documenting specific program success stories using established frameworks in line with donor requirements, by conducting desk review of policies or project documents, qualitative and quantitative research, and drafting of abstracts, conference papers, posters, and journal manuscripts. He/she is expected to travel to the field to conduct interviews, observe program implementation, collect data, and evidence using established (i.e., photo documentation) and innovative strategies. The project documentation intern will also have an opportunity to learn about HIV and TB programming on prevention, care, treatment, advocacy, and other issues related to OPHID’s mission.
Main responsibilities
Documenting the impact of the program activities on improving health service delivery and quality of care; Contribute to knowledge creation by actively implementing and documenting quantitative and qualitative evidence on good practices into program models and replicable strategies; Contribute to the design of knowledge management and program evaluation activities such as deep dives, SIMS assessments and other related activities; Develop robust programmatic evidence and content derived from OPHID program activities for publishing in peer reviewed journals, scientific meetings, and other related fora; Develop written materials regularly that illustrate the impact of program work and its context and sharing project briefs., manuscripts, abstracts, case reports, case studies for a range of knowledge users and stakeholders; Plan and track program timelines and milestones using appropriate project planning tools.
Person specifications
Master’s degree in public health or any other health related qualification is a must; Special interest in knowledge management and translation, including research methods, publishing, and writing scientific articles; Ability and willingness to travel to rural areas and at least good knowledge of languages used in the project area (Shona and Ndebele); Excellent oral and written communication skills; Organized, self-starter, and willing to be mentored in HIV and TB programming; Willingness to work flexible hours, as needed; Strong work ethic coupled with enthusiastic and passionate approach to work with an ability to multi-task and to work with limited supervision; Ability to demonstrate good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality; Proficiency in usual desktop software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) a requisite; Experience in use of knowledge management and information archival systems is an asset.
