Position summary

Christian Aid is seeking a Programme Officer for its Irish Aid Funded Project. The role is key in providing technical support to the Zimbabwe Christian Aid partners and programme through IAPG funding, and other funding to ensure that partner organisations, faith institutions, government departments and other civil society organisations respond to the issues of accountability and inequality particularly gender-based violence. A key delivery area for this role is to ensure the IAPG project is delivered timely, with the acceptable quality, document evidence of change brought about by intervening in this thematic area. The role will also support implementation of Christian Aid in Zimbabwe’s social and economic justice strategy encompassing both programme and institutional work.

Job description

Deliver IAPG project on time and to budget; Ensure Compliance with financial policies and procedures including reporting requirements and contribution made to other team members in the development and implementation of partner capacity building and training; Support development of proposals based on strong planning and evaluation procedures using Christian Aid’s internal systems; Develop positive relationships with partners through effective communication; Ensure strong linkages between partner work and advocacy, communications, and fundraising roles within the UK.

Qualifications

Essential

Graduate in Social Science or equivalent; 3 years’ experience working with institutional donor funding; Monitoring and evaluation qualification and or experience; Understanding of financial controls and procedures; Understanding of issues of Faith, gender and working with men; Familiarity with programme cycle management approaches and tools – including participatory planning, monitoring, and evaluation; Direct experience of programme appraisal, monitoring, and evaluation and of developing partners’ capacity; At least 1-year experience supporting partners to incorporate inclusion, gender, HIV, and accountability methodologies; Understanding of advocacy, campaigning, and lobbying; Experience of facilitation, training, and network building; Experience in donor reporting; Experience in grant management.

Desirable

Masters’ qualification; Understanding of Faith communities and their unique needs; Understanding of partnership approach to international development; Understanding of gender and inclusion.
