About the position
A reputable organisation in Zimbabwe working on transitional justice issues seeks the services of an experienced researcher to assist in undertaking a perception survey. The survey should bear in mind the violent past of Zimbabwe, the traumatic experiences which come with waves after waves of conflict and what citizens expect from Chapter 12 institutions. The consultant is expected to undertake the perception survey and produce a report in relation to transitional justice issues in Zimbabwe.
Purpose and scope of the task
The scope of the survey should focus on how Chapter 12 institutions interact with stakeholders basing its analysis on the establishment of structures to ensure non-recurrence of gross human rights violations in Zimbabwe making reference to conflict resolution and prevention, post-conflict justice, healing and reconciliation and anything incidental to the prevention of conflict and promotion of peace.
Deliverables
The consultant should undertake the survey and must present to the organisation a well-researched and structured report by 2 November 2020.
Qualifications
The suitable consultant must possess: Qualification(s) in law, international human rights law, transitional justice, peace and governance, research and should demonstrate a deep understanding of the role of Chapter 12 institutions in Zimbabwe’s human rights discourse; at least seven years of experience in doing field and online surveys in human rights/ transitional justice issues, familiarity with Acts which and strategies which regulate Chapter 2 institutions,. Fluency in written English is a prerequisite.
