The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe seeks to recruit a National Director for the Methodist Development Relief Agency (MeDRA). MeDRA is a

Christian-based Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) registered as a Private Voluntary Organization (PVO) and an arm of the Methodist Church

in Zimbabwe. MeDRA’s mission is to empower communities to improve livelihoods and experience justice through sustainable interventions which

bear witness to God’s love. At MeDRA, the National Director is crucial in terms of leadership & management.

Core Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission and vision statement of the entity.

• Ability to write project proposals.

• Managing financial and fundraising affairs of the organisation with fiscal integrity.

• Human resources and budget planning

• Ensure through regular monitoring of activities, effective project implementation and use of best programming practices.

• Executing the secretariat role in support of the board of directors

• Drive operational excellence by ensuring appropriate best practices, processes and technologies are in place.

• Adherence to corporate governance principles and statutes to always ensure compliance and ensure remedial action is taken where necessary.

• Identify and address problems and opportunities central to business success timeously and solve critical issues at highest levels.

• Lead by example in organisational ethics and morals, and take strong action against non-adherence to values, ethics and codes.

• Establish sound relationships with relevant government authorities and seek government recognition and support for MEDRA programmes.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Social Science /Development studies /Community Development

Experience

• At least 10 years’ experience in developmental work at senior management and leadership positions.

• Strong influential and executive leadership style, an articulate and confident manager able to spur confidence in the organization, working closely

with the Board for governance and management.

• Experience with government relations & networking with international agencies.

• Clear Christian commitment & spiritual maturity, while understanding the limitations of working in a restrictive environment.

• Knowledge and understanding of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe operations would be an added advantage.

• Experience in project management.

• Proven ability to mentor, coach, train and supervise staff.

• Have strong team building skills using the facilitating & empowering approach.

• Having experience in gender, youth & climate adaptation will be an added advantage.

• Should have a managed a grant of at least USD 500,000.00.
