DIESEL AND PETROL MECHANIC- CLASS 1/DIESEL PLANT FITTER • Reporting to the workshop foreman. • Conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn/damaged parts and rectifying the same. • Carrying out routine/minor/major service on the engine, including oil and filter changes. • Verifies engine performance by conducting tests; adjusting controls and systems. • Sometimes integrating new technology into the engine structure. • Preparing and updating records on service work conducted on engines. • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. • Contains costs and; evaluating service and parts options. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications. • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. QUALIFICATIONS • Class 1 Artisan in motor mechanics • A minimum of 1 – 3years’ experience with diesel engines • Experience in forklift repair and maintenance an added advantage. AUTO-ELECTRICIAN • Reporting to the workshop foreman. • Checking and diagnosing gas, diesel, electric automotive tools, elements, and systems to resolve needed repairs. • Performing minor to major fixes to automotive equipment. • Constructing, or altering tools and engine elements as required. • Fixing and repairing equipment; performing troubleshooting to systems and components. • Checking and diagnosing gas, diesel, electric automotive tools, elements, and systems to resolve needed repairs. • Performed minor to major fixes to automotive equipment. • Produced, constructed, or altered tools and engine elements as required. • Diagnose faults based on observational and mechanical testing as well as information provided • Provide detailed report for repairs and replacements • Perform repairs based on the diagnosed issues and repair any other worn/damaged components • Testing after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and to determine whether any other problems exist • File appropriate documentation on each repair QUALIFICATIONS • Class 1 Artisan in Auto-Electrics • A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience with various types of vehicles • Exposure to battery powered machine an added advantage
