Job Summary


Abt Associates Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Monitoring & Evaluation Officer for a US President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) funded comprehensive malaria project: Zimbabwe Assistance Program in Malaria (ZAPIM II). The 5-year project will work to strengthen the capacity of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) at the national, provincial, district, and community levels, in the areas of case management and malaria in pregnancy, LLIN distribution, social and behavioral change communication, surveillance/M&E and research.


Under the supervision of the Strategic Information Specialist, the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support the project's M&E activities and will be responsible for developing M&E plans, indicators and reports. He/she will in charge of capturing/collecting data for relevant ZAPIM II activities. This position is based in Harare, Zimbabwe.


Key Roles and Responsibilities


In conjunction with the M&E Manager, support all of the project's M&E activities.

Works with technical specialists on the project to prepare project performance monitoring plans and monitors key program indicators in order to document result.

Contributes to the project work on increasing data quality for DHIS2 and other national and sub-national databases.

Assists in the collection, cleaning, analysis, and reporting of M&E data according to the project's M&E plan.

Supports timely submission of project performance monitoring plans, including developing and defining program indicators and sources of data, as well as contributing to annual work plans, quarterly and annual reports and other project documents

Enter all indicator data and milestones into the ZAPIM II M&E Database.

Participate in Surveys and Evaluations- training, data collection, analysis and report writing.

Ensures data accuracy, security and legal and regulatory compliance with national and international regulations and laws.

Produces various types of data reports on a routine basis including visual presentation of data.

Any other duties as assigned.

Preferred qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Community Health, Sociology, or other relevant fields.

Three years of relevant experience in database management, surveillance, monitoring & evaluation, and research, or other relevant social and health science activities.

Experience working with government entities, stakeholder groups, health workers, local authorities, and community groups.

Ability to work well in a team environment and under pressure.

Previous work experience in Zimbabwe is required. Previous work experience with USAID health projects is desirable.

Good understanding of the National Health Information System (NHIS), DHIS2, and other data analysis soft-wares such as STATA, SPSS, Epi-Info, and SAS.

Willingness to travel within the country as needed.

Oral and written English language required, additional knowledge of recognized local languages preferred.

Must be Zimbabwean or have a Zimbabwean work permit.

Bachelor's Degree + One year of relevant experience
