Program Summary:                      

The 5-year USAID funded Mhuri / Imuli program’s goal in Zimbabwe is to improve maternal, youth and child health and survival in beneficiary communities and populations. The geographic focus is the seven districts of Manicaland Province, focusing on activities to increase the demand and supply of integrated, quality MNCH-FP services as well delivery of family planning services through outreach in all 10 provinces of Zimbabwe. This project will provide Technical Assistance (TA) to the MOHCC in Manicaland for MNCH and direct service delivery for Family Planning through outreach services.

Position Summary:                                           

The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant function is core to FHI360’s mission. The role’s main objective is to ensure that funded programs are effectively able to collect, analyze and report on performance and demonstrate impact consistent with FHI360’s mission. The Intern will work closely with FHI360 programme teams to ensure that M&E frameworks are effectively implemented to allow for effective programme management and performance reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist data collection for MNCH/FP program and surveys in Manicaland Province.
  • Support timeous data capturing for Family Planning in all 10 provinces and at least one district for MNCH
  • Support data verification/data quality assessments for MNCH-FP with special focus on Family planning.
  • Ensure that the data being collected is of good quality and is used to improve programme management and implementation.
    • Support in the review and checking of data generated being in line with the Mhuri/Imuli M&E reporting requirements.
    • Prepare, sort and check all data records for verification and making sure that accurate data is being entered in the registers and Mhuri/Imuli database.
    • Check completed work for accuracy, liaise with supervisor for incomplete records and make any required changes as required.
  • Establish entry priorities by maintaining understanding of what data needs to be entered first by entering training data into Train Smart database as required.
  • Support FHI360 with reliable and comprehensive analysis of the results and impact of programmes. Conduct monthly data analysis for key program indicators and working in close collaboration with M&E Manager to produce monthly report.
  • Support M & E and weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual reporting and other reports as necessary working with programme team and M&E team.
  • Support monthly data review meetings in the districts.
  • Respond to information access and retrieval requests from authorized members.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

  • Sound knowledge and experience regarding data management and databases including working with DHIS2 and well-developed computer skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain compatibility among project staff, consultants and recipients of assistance.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members.
  • Ability to analyze and report on quantitative and qualitative data
  • Able to troubleshoot problems in data collection and entry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and to travel to multiple clinic sites

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Diploma /University degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Demography or any related field.
  • At least one-year relevant experience in providing data entry and M&E support for community development programs.
