Position Title: Livestock Officer Location: tongogara refugee CAMP: chipinge Purpose of the Position: Supports the implementation of livestock production interventions in Tongogara Refugee Camp; facilitate livestock market linkages facilitate the formation and strengthening of Savings Groups. Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

• Identify, train and supervise livestock production Lead Farmers.
• Facilitate the formation of Farmer Field Schools and demonstration plots.
• Establish and strengthen Savings Groups.
• Facilitate gender, DRR and environmental management mainstreaming.
• Facilitate capacity building of agricultural public extension staff, improving agricultural extension services for small holder farmers.
• Support Farmer Field Schools and Lead Farmer groups to enhance livestock productivity using good agricultural practices.
• Provide regular support and monitoring of demonstration sites in the Refugee camp and within the host community.
• Monitor livestock performance in the Refugee camp and in the host community
• Produce regular and timely consolidated progress reports for the Project Coordinator.
• Mobilizing and registration of farmers into farmer groups.
• Linking livestock farmers to input and output markets.
• Facilitate the processing, storage and handling of livestock products.
• Supervise all livestock shelter constructions.
• Work closely with Government extension staff in the implementation of all livestock related project interventions.
• Represent World Vision on livestock production platforms related to interventions in the Refugee camp.
• Ensure that quality materials are procured in support of livestock production interventions in the Refugee camp.

Knowledge and Skills:

1. Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field.
2. At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role in the NGO sector.
3. Demonstrated ability in the design and effective use of training materials.
4. Knowledge on livelihoods programming.
5. Motorcycle driving license a must.
