Location: Lupane or Hwange with occasional travel within Amalima Loko operational area.
About CNFA and Amalima Loko
CNFA is a US-based non-profit nongovernmental organization (NGO) that works to stimulate economic growth and improve rural livelihoods in the developing world through five core capabilities: (1) Productivity, Food Security and Nutrition; (2) Input Supply and Farm Services; (3) Economic Resilience and Rapid Recovery; (4) Value Chain Development; and (5) Volunteer Technical Assistance. Amalima Loko is a new USAID-funded 5-year program implemented by CNFA and 5 partner organizations which applies community-driven approaches to improve food security, nutrition, and natural resource management in over 80 communal wards in Matabeleland North.
Position Summary
As a Finance Officer you will be required to post entries, manage records. Prepare reports, payments and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded; Processing of payments to vendors;
Review and process employee advances and acquittals;
Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations;
Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines;
Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned;
Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed;
Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports;
Assist Accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings;
Assist with other accounting tasks.
Qualifications
A holder of an Accounting Degree;
At least 3 years’ relevant accounting experience, NGO experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirement
Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations;
Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook;
Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices; Ability to manage complex working relationships;
Excellent organizing skills;
Great attention to detail;
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Ability to speak and understand IsiNdebele and/or other languages spoken in Matabeleland North is preferred.
