Role Overview
TIZ is currently seeking a Finance Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in financial accounting and contribute to the success of projects by supporting and coordinating financial activities that underpin the organization's operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the general ledger and entering financial data into the accounting system.
- Managing payments, debtors, and creditors, ensuring timely reconciliation of receivables and payables accounts
- Assisting in budget preparation and monitoring project expenditure to ensure compliance
- Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts.
- Participating in the preparation of management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Compiling monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual financial reports as per organizational and partner requirements.
- Contributing to desk audits, compliance visit checks, project audits, and institutional audits.
- Timely submission of monthly statutory returns (ZIMRA, NSSA).
- Assisting the administration department in maintaining fixed assets.
- Managing daily treasury operations.
- Supporting the Finance Manager and MEAL Officer in validation monitoring.
- Undertaking additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a complete professional qualification (CIS, ACCA, CIMA).
- Working knowledge of accounting procedures, proficiency in MS Excel, Pastel Evolution, and Belina payroll.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in NGO finance.
- Personal qualities: honesty, ethics, hardworking, excellent team player, attention to detail.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal); knowledge of Shona and Ndebele is an asset.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team.
