Deadline: 14 December 2019 (5pm)
Contract: Fixed-term – January 2020 until 31st December 2020 with possible extension subject to incumbent performance.
Remuneration: To be revealed to successful candidates.
Main purpose of the role
- Provide adequate support to SCOPE Zimbabwe’s team in financial management and ensure application of appropriate standards for financial accountability;
- Ensure supporting documentation for payments is complete and correct (e.g. authorised and coded by budget holder) in accordance with SCOPE Zimbabwe’s financial procedures;
- Prepare payments for authorization by account signatories (including payroll). Ensure relevant statutory deductions are made, and transactions recorded accurately on Pastel;
- Handling (finance related) queries;
- Interpretation of financial information and advice to the National Coordinator;
- Analysing financial reports for project staff and providing guidance;
- Influences staff to adopt SCOPE Zimbabwe’s financial procedures. The incumbent will need to be a competent Accountant an excellent communicator, organized and efficient, have great attention to detail and the flexibility to enjoy a demanding and varied role.
- First degree or similar in accountancy/financial management (desirable) or other relevant disciplines, e.g. business studies, office administration, project administration, project management;
- Excellent abilities in accounting and financial administration including management of cash flows, balance sheets, sizeable budgets (planning, monitoring and reporting);
- High levels of proficiency in Excel and experience of using accounting packages;
- Knowledge of project management methodologies in a good governance context (including logical framework, project cycle management, etc.) and how to integrate good financial management into good project management;
- Excellent levels of spoken and written English;
- Experience of organising a busy workload and working in a fast-changing environment
- Experience of procurement processes; Knowledge of child safeguarding and child protection policies in Zimbabwe
