Location: Harare
Reports to Programs Manager
A registered PVO is seeking to fill this vacancy for its OVC Program funded by USAID under PEPFAR.
Job Summary:
The Education officer provides technical input into the implementation of the schooled domain activities. She/he will work closely with the CRS technical leads: Education Advisor, MEAL, Case management and Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE) on a range of education-focused activities. The key duties of the education officer include;
Job Responsibilities:
· Closely collaborate with all concerned stakeholders to ensure that program goals are achieved and sustained.
· Ensures that OVC attend school regularly, retained in school, and progress to the next level.
· Ensures close supervision and supports achievement of all the education indicators.
· Collects data from schools using the retention tracker once per term, attendance tracker once every month and progression tracker once every year.
· Collects data from MoPSE on Schools (both Primary and Secondary) in a District.
· Shares monthly updates on implemented activities for the month using the 5Ws template.
· Actively participates in education related activities and meetings and seek active collaboration with other players working in the education sector within the district.
· Ensures close supervision and support to field-based education activities such as homework clubs.
· Participates in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and final reports based on project targets and results
· Always maintains strict confidentiality regarding information and data of clients.
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
Education and Experience
· Diploma in Education. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
· Five to seven years of field experience in Education, especially within Zimbabwe
· In depth knowledge in the field of education, health, development and related fields preferred.
· Experience working with schools and communities to support educational outcomes for children and adolescents.
· Knowledge and understanding, as well as experience with PEFPAR and/or USAID funded projects desired
Personal Skills
· Good analytical skills and ability to support a cross section of community cadres.
· Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming.
· Ability to work under pressure, balance competing demands to achieve agreed-upon results.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
