Job Overview/Summary
The international Rescue Committee is recruiting for driver. The driver has the overall responsibility for driving IRC’s vehicle as per IRC’s driving procedure and keeping the vehicle clean and in a very good condition.
Responsibilities
- Specific responsibilities include: Driving IRC’s vehicle as per IRC’s vehicle procedure;
- Maintains an updated vehicle log sheet by filling in all required information properly and accurately;
- Coordinates with staff on their travel requirements;
- Reports promptly to the Operations department any losses, malfunctions or accidents in writing immediately after events occur;
- Keeps vehicles clean and in a very good condition. Cleaning of vehicles is the responsibility of drivers;
- Provide some mechanical services and technical consultations to the vehicle as required;
- Takes delivery of goods, supplies, etc. on behalf of IRC as required;
- Assist Operations department in collection of quotations from suppliers;
- Follow up the periodic service of the vehicle and fulfil the necessary condition for the maintenance on time;
- Remain flexible to perform other duties as required
- No road safety-related fines or convictions;
- Thorough knowledge of road rules and regulations;
- Skills in routine vehicle maintenance and minor repair;
- Knowledge (or ability to quickly learn) of HF, VHF and satellite communications equipment;
- Team spirit and problem-solving abilities;
- Able to carry out limited, unsupervised tasks;
- Drivers must display an attitude and behavior that reflects well on both themselves and the IRC;
- Has good knowledge of geographical areas of operations; Knowing how to use onboard equipment such as 4x4, radios or winches;
- Knowing how to change a wheel
- Minimum Requirements: 5‘O’ levels;
- Valid Defensive Driver’s Certificate;
- Minimum of a valid class 2 driving license. (Female candidates with a clean class 4 driver’s license and a defensive driver’s certificate are encouraged to apply);
- Knowledge of operations of four-wheel drive driven vehicles;
- Five (5) years’ experience in similar organization/ NGO working environment;
- Minimum of five years’ work as a class 2 professional driver;
- Good Written and spoken English.
