Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest, privately-held, non-denominational, and politically independent German non-governmental organizations in the area of development cooperation and emergency relief. Primarily in cooperation with local partner organizations, its task is to contribute to improved income and nutrition for the poorest rural populations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe almost continuously since 1980. Currently, the organization together with its partners has projects in 5 Provinces. Sector focus is on Food and Nutrition security including WASH, and when necessary Emergency response.

Welthungerhilfe is implementing a 12-month project with an overall objective to strengthen the resilience of 3 000 most vulnerable households to climate and economic shocks and their impacts on food security and livelihoods: The proposed project implemented in Gweru will be an integral part of WHHs overall urban portfolio building on and deepening our existing work in urban areas and our relationship with WFP. For over 20 years, WHH has been implementing resilience building and food security projects in rural and urban areas which include but not limited to: Midlands, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces: Gweru was selected as one of the domains where WHH is currently implementing an urban resilience building project in addition to a cash transfer project which is suitable for demonstrating the humanitarian-development nexus approach


Position summary


Welthungerhilfe seeks to recruit a Digital Skills Development Officer who will support the Digital Skills training with the preparation and implementation of activities under “Establishing a digital skills training ecosystem with public and private sector involvement and “Enhancing digital skills competencies for youths”.


Job description


Coordinate project activities related to digital skills development through combining the foresight and analysis of a business and marketing education with the constantly shifting principles of electronic retailing; Coordinate project needs with officers at the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology, Youths, SMEs in the implementation of the digital skills development activities; Support the Digital Skills training project in identifying, developing, and managing partnerships with local, regional, and global stakeholders; Maintain effective cooperation mechanism in relation to digital skills development; Managing installations of

key digital solutions on all assigned access platforms; Contributing towards key content editing via the content management system; Support project’s beneficiaries in their training workshops and other digital skills development activities that are supported by the project; Support Digital Skills training by managing the preparation of all terms of reference and bidding documents related to “Establishing a digital skills training ecosystem with public and private sector involvement” and “Enhancing digital skills competencies for youths” to ensure quality control of consulting firms and / or individual consultants’ outputs; Contributing to development of a youth digital skills awareness roll out plan; Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator with the needed documentation and reporting.


Qualifications


Bachelor of Technology Degree in E-Commerce or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or any other relevant field; Demonstrated professional expertise in development and management of ICT systems, Databases, ICT4D solutions and development and design of information systems; At least 1 years’ experience in the NGO sector; Strong ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with government officials, international donors, partners, and other key stakeholders; Proficiency in English oral and written communication skills
