Our client, SAfAIDS is a regional non-profit organisation operating across the SADC region; advancing development responses to sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV and TB; and promoting gender justice. We have been retained to look for an innovative, dynamic and experienced senior-level professional with a trend-setting record of designing and leading programmes in the areas of SRHR, HIV, gender equality and human rights to fill in the position of Deputy Director – Programmes.We therefore invite suitably qualified persons to apply. RESPONSIBILITIES • This position involves managing, planning and coordinating programming, as well as related publications, communication for development (C4D), ICTs, documentation and learning initiatives. • The incumbent will provide strategic support to organisational development, risk management, sustainability planning, partnership management, systems strengthening, monitoring and evaluation, and resource mobilisation. • The ideal candidate would enjoy working in versatile and dynamics settings, with enthusiasm and flexibility, in addition to technical expertise REQUIREMENTS · Masters degree in Public Health, International Development, Development Studies or related field. Qualifications in diplomacy, human rights, project management, economics, research, business studies or human resources management are an added advantage. · Minimum 8 years’ experience in management positions in a development, bi-lateral, multi-lateral or CSO settings. Experience in government, or non-profit sector, is an advantage. · Experience in managing multiple national, multi-country and regional programmes simultaneously; and providing strategic technical guidance and mentoring to programmes. · Technical expertise in publications and product development, campaign designs, communication for development, ICTs for programming and documentation. · Track record of successfully securing organisational resources for new programmes; drafting funding proposals, initiating donor relations; and managing donors of varied origins. · Skilled in risk management, principles of compliance, and institutional policy and practice. · Track-record of ensuring programme efficiency, sustainability and quality delivery, in diverse and complex settings; including skills in managing partnerships at State, non-State, CSO, private sector, funder, multi- and bi-lateral, and community levels. · Skilled in engaging leadership and policy-makers as allies at regional and national levels. · Strong appreciation of current trends and dynamics in the SRHR, human rights, HIV, gender and social justice sectors in Africa. As well as understanding of young people, diverse populations, children, men, policy-maker related programming. · Skilled in tracking programme budgets, ensuring burn rates are healthy, and providing technical guidance in addressing blocks of underspend or overspend. · Capacity to apply creative and flexible approaches during crisis, challenging and unplanned eventualities and controversial situations. · Values good principles of interpersonal skills, diversity and inclusion, motivational strategies and emotional intelligence as integral to management practices.
