Christian Blind Mission
Deadline: 6 May 2021
About
CBM is an international Christian development organization, committed to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in the poorest communities of the world. Based on its Christian values and over 100 years of professional expertise, CBM addresses poverty as a cause, and a consequence, of disability, and works in partnerships to create a society for all. CBM works in the most disadvantaged communities, irrespective of race, gender or Spiritual Beliefs. CBM seeks to change attitudes, practices and policies that lead to marginalization, exclusion and poverty because of disability, and to strive for peace, justice and dignity for every human being.
CBM has been working with partners in Zimbabwe since 1974, preventing blindness, improving health and helping people with disabilities earn a living, access health care/rehabilitation and live lives to their full potential. CBM Zimbabwe Country Office priority areas are Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) and Inclusive Eye Health. CBM works with partners such as Jairos Jiri Association (JJA), Zimbabwe Council for the Blind, WizEar, Plan International, Federation of Disabled Persons in Zimbabwe, Ministry of Health and Child Care, Ministry of Public Services, Labour and Social Welfare.
Since 2015, CBM has partnered with Jairos Jiri Association (JJA) in the implementation of humanitarian and emergency response projects. JJA is a non-profit organization registered in Zimbabwe in 1967 and has been operating in the disability field since 1950. The work of JJA is diverse and is tailored to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
Jairos Jiri Association (JJA) in partnership with CBM supported the implementation of the Food Security and Livelihoods Project (P3999) in Chivi district in Zimbabwe. The overall goal of the project is “Strengthening capacity and building resilience of the population affected by drought in Chivi district”. This one-year project was propelled by the continuous drought situation for a couple of farming seasons that has thrown the district and other rural communities of Zimbabwe to acute food insecurity. Its specific objective is: "Strengthening capacity and building resilience of the population affected by drought in Chivi district through inclusive cash programming, school feeding, livelihoods support, food processing, ISALS and provision of clean water." In this regard, Christian Blind Mission seeks to recruit a Consultant to produce a documentary on the impact, lessons learnt and good practices of the Food Security and Livelihoods Project in Chivi district.
