Job Summary
Consultant: Action Aid Zimbabwe Deadline: 26 April 2020 (5pm) Consultant Required Action Aid Zimbabwe, seeks to engage a Consultant to conduct the Mapping of traditional and underutilized nutritional species which will aid identification of wild species and other easily available traditionals that can increase dietary diversity and nutrition.Duties And Responsibilities
2. Proposed Methodology The project is being implemented in 10 wards of Makoni District. The research is by and large expected to be a qualitative research relying mostly on desk review and interviews of key informants virtually given the context. We are therefore looking forward to a candidate who delivers the following listed deliverables: a) Develop tools to be used for the research/mapping b) Undertake a mapping of traditional and underutilized species (Non-Timber Forest Products) in Makoni c) Develop a full report for the mapping d) In the report include a viability of value chains from the mapping e) To articulate cultural and socio-economic factors that influence local communities’ access to and use of the target species, including willingness to collect and sell NTFPs. f) Make recommendations 3. Duration of Assignment The assignment will be carried out for a period of 14 days from the date the award contract is signed by both parties. Final report and documents should be submitted within 14 days from date of engagement. All relevant stakeholders should be consulted during the process 4. Monitoring of Consultant Work The AAZ programs team responsible for the project facilitate the process while CMT will oversee the process. Before undertaking the assignment, a meeting will be held between the AAZ team and the consultant to discuss the assignment in full length and agree on the plan of action. 5. Ownership The Consultant will have no right of claim to the assignment or its outputs once completed. Any reports / research outputs /process documents produced as a part of this assignment shall be deemed to be in the property of AAZ and the consultant will not have any claims and will not use or reproduce the contents of the above documents without the written permission of AAZQualifications And Experience
6. Qualification and Experience The consultant should have the following minimum qualifications to spearhead this initiative: ● Over 10 years’ experience working in the ecological research ● Experience working in communal areas in targeted areas of Makoni District will be an added advantage ● Relevant educational qualifications ● Experience working with NGOs as a technical resource person as well as consultant. ● Experience of working in traditional foods value chains in Zimbabwe ● Experience using technology in researchTo apply
