Background

CARE began working in Zimbabwe in 1992 in response to a severe regional drought. After establishing a drought mitigation program, CARE began longer term developmental programs with local partners in building small dams, strengthening local microfinance institutions, and launching projects to assist small business persons in the rural areas. CARE Zimbabwe’s overall goal is to empower disadvantaged and poor households to meet their basic needs. Job summary

The incumbent ensures there is adequate monitoring of the project in line with donor requirements while adding value and improving programming through timely provision of quality monitoring and evaluation information.


Key duties and responsibilities

Receives project M&E & Knowledge Management framework and develops a Communication and Documentation activity plan that is regularly updated and submits to the M&E Specialist for approval; Ensures quality control of enumerators and Project Field Assistants during registration and on-going data collection; Ensures proper documentation and mapping of data collected by PFAs, such as Model Household Performance reports, market surveys, FGD and community mapping exercises; Monitors and supports data entry by PFAs and enumerators for accuracy; Conducts data filing and archiving as per project requirements; Provides technical assistance to project staff, partners and stakeholders on Communications M&E systems; Analyses data by mapping, structuring and organizing it to get a sense of the trends and patterns emerging from the implementation of the project; Produces, maps, compiles and aggregates qualitative data and documents such as lessons learnt summaries, case studies, Most Significant Change stories, and submits to MEAL Specialist; Inputs into the project reporting templates; Leads on the production of publicity materials, including newsletters, leaflets, banners and posters to promote the work of the organization; Develops and disseminates public relations materials that increase visibility among stakeholders, the project and CI; Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders, staff and communities that will help advance the project and CARE work through appropriate publicity; Identifies target audiences and create strategies to effectively engage them; Ensures digital marketing content aligns with CARE and donor’s brand identity, messaging and assists with publications or campaigns as required; Sources and develops in house and outsourced material, quality images and video to promote the organization directly in support of fundraising efforts; Assists in the maintaining of the CARE website and social media platforms by keeping them up to date, attractive and informative; Collaborates with management on the development and implementation of an effective communications strategy based on a target audience; Ensure that all communications material aligns with donor and partners branding guidelines; Builds the capacity of other staff members to adequately meet the branding and communication needs for the project; Adheres to CAREs PSEA and Child Protection policies.


Qualifications, skills and experience

Degree in Communications, Social Sciences/Development Studies/Statistics/Mathematics or equivalent; 3-5 years working experience in Communications, Monitoring and Evaluation or related field; Experience in food security or resilience programs; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; NGO experience will be an added advantage.
