VMCZ’s mission is to safeguard the independence and integrity of the media profession by ensuring effective and professional self-regulation in the print and broadcasting media; to promote high ethical and professional journalistic standards; to serve as a medium of understanding and education between the public and the media;
Job description
The graduate intern will be responsible for assisting in the handling of media complaints, preparing adjudication reports, managing the organization’s website, updating and managing the organisation’s social media platforms, writing articles and stories of events held by the organization; increasing VMCZ ‘s visibility through implementing the organisation’s Communication Strategy. The incumbent will also assist in organizing events, capturing quality pictures and audios and production of relevant materials to be posted on social media platforms.
Key responsibilities
Assisting Programs Officer in preparing for adjudication meetings, Update VMCZ ’s social media sites regularly; Write articles to internal and external audiences to increase VMCZ’s visibility; Assist in designing and packaging all communications content for distribution; Monitor national and local print and social media in Zimbabwe pertinent to VMCZ ethical mandate; Assist in developing and incorporating new communications tools and communication strategies to strengthen VMCZ’s Zimbabwe programming
Qualifications and experience
Recent graduate with a Degree or Diploma in Communication / Journalism / Mass Communication /Media and Society Studies; Demonstrated experience in communications in media channels; Excellent command of written and spoken English and any one local language; Experience working with civil society and /or media institutions; Proficient in computer skills, photography and use of relevant software and other applications of designing and editing; Experience in website management and administration an added advantage
